So who or what is The Management!
25 years ago I saw a band on TV, A-ha to be precise. OK so I was a teenager and I thought they were amazing BUT what really intrigued me was how did they get on the TV, how did radio play their records and what was going on behind the scenes. Despite the best efforts of a career guidance teacher telling me to become a secretary I decided na there is way more interesting things in life than this. One day I found the answer. A small cutting in a newspaper, a course in the middle of nowhere in Scotland and a qualification to help work in the business that is music, life was made! I was one of the lucky fifteen that were taken on (at the time it was the only course of it’s kind in the world!). A year living in Scotland and I set my sights on the bright lights of London. Left college Friday, started work Monday at Virgin Records head office, a minnow working in the Art & Video dept but it was the grounding I needed.
A year later I returned to the home turf of Ireland. A short time later I started working at BMG Ireland. Starting off as an admin assistant I went through the ranks to become Head of Marketing & PR. During my 12 years at BMG I had an amazing time, fantastic experiences, travels, meeting amazing people and working with some of the worlds biggest names. I am responsible for the launch in Ireland (before anywhere else in the world!) of Westlife. I was in charge of the marketing & PR plans for artists. Other acts I’ve worked on from launch – Take That, Dido, Christina Aguliera, 5ive & Will Young amongst others. I’ve working on re-launches and campaigns on acts ranging from Whitney Houston to Foo Fighters, Faithless to Barry Manilow and David Bowie to Brian Kennedy.
I moved to Head of Marketing & PR at the Irish office of the worlds biggest record company, Universal Music after BMG. There again I oversaw all the marketing & pr activity of their acts – Metallica, Eminem, to name a few. Incredible times and life experiences. After a while a new challenge called….I decided to step away from music and moved to France, the Alps to be precise. Over the last few years I’ve been managing a holiday company. Life certainly did not slow down. Winters in France, summers in Ireland!
During my time in Ireland I have developed my own freelance marketing & pr consultancy here in Ireland. My clients have included Digital Audio Productions, Sightsavers International, Ski Club of Ireland, Retail Training Consultancy Ltd. My speciality, developing marketing/pr campaigns with a little less fluff and a little more action. It’s not my style just to do the job, I live it!
I live between Ireland and the French Alps, god bless internet and mobile technology. What do I love…challenges and getting stuck in. Am loving the whole opportunities online marketing & pr is opening up and know this is a great opportunity for so many businesses who are missing it. Talk to me, lets have a coffee and a chat!
My tagline is me…none of the usual marketing/pr rubbish, just honesty!
